Three Chinese textile companies are included in the list of entities by the United States

by:Chengyi     2021-03-15
Changji Esquel Textiles was founded in 2009 by Esquel Group. Esquel Group produces clothing for brands such as Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Hugo Boss. On April 24, 2020, Esquel Group issued an announcement: Esquel opposed the use of forced labor. On July 20, the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) of the US Department of Commerce announced that 11 Chinese companies have been added to the 'Entity List.' The 11 Chinese companies include three textile enterprises: Changji Esquel Textiles, Hetian Taida Garments, and Nanjing Xinyi Cotton Textile Printing and Dyeing. The 'entity list' is a trade 'blacklist' used by the US Department of Commerce to restrict exports to foreign entities. Companies on the list will find it difficult to continue foreign trade cooperation with US companies. The Entity List is a tool used by the Bank for International Settlements to restrict the export, re-export and (in the country) transfer of items controlled by the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) to individuals (individuals, organizations, companies) who reasonably believe to involve or pose a significant risk , Engage in activities that violate the interests of U.S. national security or foreign policy. Additional license requirements apply to exports, re-exports, and (domestic) transfers of items subject to EAR to listed entities, and the availability of most license exceptions is limited. Among the 11 companies that have been added to the US Entity List, the US Department of Commerce “tested” that 9 Chinese companies were accused of being involved in “forced labor” against ethnic minorities in Xinjiang, and 2 Chinese companies were “suspected” of assisting in the collection of ethnic minorities. The gene of the population is included in the 'entity list' for the reason of DNA genetic analysis. The specific list of Chinese companies that have been listed by the US Department of Commerce as entities involved in 'forced labor' is as follows: Changji Esquel Textile Co., Ltd., Hefei Baolongda Information Technology Co., Ltd., Hefei Meiling Co., Ltd., and Hetian Haolin Hair Accessories Co., Ltd. , Hetian Taida Clothing Co., Ltd., Jinchuang Group, Nanchang O-Film Tech, Nanjing Synergy Textiles Co. Ltd. and Tanyuan Technology Co. Ltd. ). The two Chinese companies that were 'suspected' for assisting in collecting genes from ethnic minority groups and conducting DNA genetic analysis were sanctioned including Xinjiang Silk Road Huada Gene Technology Co., Ltd. and Beijing Liuhe Huada Gene Technology Co., Ltd. On May 22, Huafu's subsidiary Akzo Huafu Mélange Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as 'Aksu Huafu') was included in the list of entities by the US Department of Commerce on May 22, 2020.
