Indonesia imposes temporary safeguard tax on imported yarn

On November 6, 2019, the WTO Safeguard Measures Committee released the safeguard measures notification submitted to it by the Indonesian delegation on November 5, 2019. The Indonesian Safeguards Committee made a preliminary ruling on safeguards for imported synthetic fiber yarns and staple fiber yarns (except sewing threads) (Yarn (otherthanSewingThread) of Synthethic and Artificial Staple Fibres), suggesting that a temporary safeguard tax of IDR 1405/kg should be imposed on the products involved. The validity period is 200 days. The Indonesian tax codes of the products involved are 5509.22.00, 5509.32.00, 5509.51.00, 5509.53.00, 5510.12.00, 5510.90.00. The aforementioned safeguard measures are not applicable to the products involved in the case imported from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China, the Macao Special Administrative Region of China, and Taiwan of China.　　 On September 20, 2019, in response to an application submitted by the Indonesian Textile Association on September 18, 2019, the Indonesian Safeguards Committee initiated a safeguard investigation on imported synthetic fiber yarns and staple fiber yarns (except sewing threads).
