Global cotton yarn exports are expected to increase in 2020

According to foreign authoritative organizations, global cotton yarn exports in 2019 were USD 13.182 billion, a decrease of 9.5% from USD 14.658 billion in 2017. The total export volume in 2019 was 13.52% lower than the previous year. It is estimated that exports in 2022 will reach 13.95525 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 5.87% over 2019.   Global cotton yarn imports fell from US$12.981 billion in 2017 to US$11.461 billion in 2019, a 11.71% decrease. The total import volume in 2019 was 15.74% lower than the previous year. It is expected to increase to US$11.79 billion in 2022, a decrease of 2.78% from 2019. In 2019, the main global cotton yarn exporters were India (2.914.7 billion U.S. dollars), Vietnam (2.8881 billion U.S. dollars), China (1.7754 billion U.S. dollars), the United States (1.2171 billion U.S. dollars) and Pakistan (1.1993 million U.S. dollars), accounting for 74.53% of total exports. . This is followed by Indonesia (USD 582 million), Turkey (USD 522 million) and Hong Kong (USD 458 million).   From 2016 to 2019, the most significant growth in global cotton yarn exports was Vietnam (66.67%) and China (7.82%).   In 2019, the main importing countries of global cotton yarn are China (4.9474 billion U.S. dollars), Turkey (569 million U.S. dollars) and Italy (525 million U.S. dollars), accounting for 52.71% of total imports. This is followed by Hong Kong (US$433 million), South Korea (US$426 million) and Vietnam (US$413 million).   From 2016 to 2019, the countries with the most significant increase in cotton yarn imports were Italy (49.75%) and Turkey (34.46%).
